Southern New Mexico’s Amazing Dark Skies
This part of New Mexico has some of the darkest skies in the United States. My husband is an amateur astronomer and one of the primary reasons we have a second home at the Berrenda Creek and Lake Valley Ranch Community in Hillsboro, New Mexico is because of the unusual lack of light pollution and the ability to enjoy New Mexico’s amazing dark skies.

About The Ranch Community
Just south of the small town of Hillsboro, New Mexico is the remote ranch community of Berrenda Creek and Lake Valley. Far from big city noise, traffic, and light pollution — but not too far from the cultural vibe of Santa Fe and the service hubs of Albuquerque and Las Cruces — these beautiful, southern New Mexico ranches are part of conservation land established in partnership with the New Mexico Land Conservancy. Spanning 72,000 acres of private, public, and conservation land in the foothills of the Black Range Mountains, the Berrenda Creek and Lake Valley Ranch Community includes beautiful custom homes, a working cattle ranch, miles of recreation trails, wildlife corridors, and high desert mountain views
